Many helping hands work to Build It Forward

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

More than two dozen volunteers braved the cold on Tuesday, February 8th,  to take part in BayWest’s Build day and work on two houses that will be given to two local families through Paul Brandt’s Build It Forward.

Whether mixing paint, laying the subfloor in the living room, handing out construction equipment or pouring a warm of coffee, no task was too big or small for this group of passionate volunteers. Paul Brandt even stopped by for a ‘surprise’ visit, showing no hesitation as he applied a fresh coat of paint in the kitchen.

Brookline was on site to help coordinate interviews with the media who, for the first time, were able to view one of the homes which will be featured on the show later this year.

Corkscrew Media launches Paul Brandt’s “BUILD IT FORWARD” TV series

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

On Friday, November 26, 2010, Brookline was proud to be a part of the production launch of Paul Brandt’s new TV series, BUILD IT FORWARD, produced by Corkscrew Media. Approximately 250 guests were treated to a private performance from Paul as well as moving presentations by Habitat for Humanity and Samaritan’s Purse, two major partners of the project. The event kicked off the show’s production, which will take place in Calgary, Cochrane, and an international destination, and wraps up in the spring once seven homes have been built.

The new series will chronicle the emotionally challenging journeys of seven separate families at risk of homelessness who will be receiving a new home. BUILD IT FORWARD moves beyond all other home-building and home makeover shows by pushing the “giving back” envelope. While the recipient family works first hand and receives the goodwill and grace of donations and volunteers in the creation of their new home, they are also required to help build a new home for another family – this time in a developing country.

Brookline is thrilled to be working with Corkscrew Media and the team at BUILD IT FORWARD on this exciting project.

BUILD IT FORWARD is scheduled to air on CMT in 2011.

Sunday, October 3 marked the 2010 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure and Brookline’s sixth year supporting this cause.  The Brookline team was on site coordinating media interviews and secured more than a dozen media opportunities pre and post event.

Twelve thousand supporters and survivors were in attendance raising close to $1.5 million for breast cancer research. Our Brookline team blew our original fundraising goal out of the water, raising close to $7,000! We look forward to seeing everyone again next year and want to thank everyone who supported our team.
