“Discovering” the Holiday Season by Giving Back

Posted on December 19, 2024

The holiday season is in full swing and in the spirit of giving, Brookline is proud to once again support Discovery House, a local non-profit dedicated to ending the traumatic cycle of domestic violence for women and children in Calgary. Discovery House stands as a beacon of hope for families facing domestic violence. The organization offers a safe space for women and children to escape abuse, rebuild their lives, and find a path to a brighter future. As a non-profit organization, Discovery House relies on the generosity of donors to continue its essential work, and Brookline is proud to be one of its steadfast supporters.

This year, our team collected donations and purchased essential items to provide to the shelter including toiletries, hats and mitts, toys and household items. Once we had all the items in-hand, our team participated in an assembly line packing party to get the gift bags ready for delivery.

With our gift bags ready, some of our Brookline elves delivered the packages to Discovery House personally and to wish the team and staff a very merry holiday season. During our drop-off, we were personally toured through the facility and learned how contributions, whether large or small, are essential to helping families take their next step towards hope and healing.

By donating, you can fund critical programs and services that help families heal and thrive. Volunteering your time – whether by assisting with events, providing administrative help, or supporting community initiatives – makes a direct impact. You can also contribute in-kind gifts such as clothing, toiletries, or household essentials to help families start fresh. Even simply raising awareness by sharing Discovery House’s mission with your network can create ripples of change.
