It’s been a busy start to 2015, and there has been no shortage of amazing projects in the Brookline office. Recently, Brookline was thrilled to provide media relations and event management support to the 2015 Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S. Pro-Am Hockey Tournament kickoff press conference.
The annual tournament is returning to Calgary this April, and brings together local hockey players and NHL alumni. Over the past four years, the hockey tournament has raised a net total of $1.5 million for Alzheimer’s research and patient care.
Brookline helped coordinate the press conference to announce the hockey tournament as well as Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S Society’s Centre for Alzheimer’s Research and Education as the tournament benefactor. All funds raised from this year’s tournament will be directed to Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S through the Flames Foundation for Life. Funds raised will also contribute to the Gordie Howe Centre for Dementia, currently under construction in south Calgary.
Grant Pollock, former sports anchor at Global Calgary, emceed the conference and welcomed notable speakers like Allan Klassen, the 2015 Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S. Pro-Am Hockey Tournament Event Chair and Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S. Society Board Member. In addition, Marty Howe spoke about his father’s improving health and the role dementia has played in his family. The likes of other NHL greats like Darryl Sittler, Lanny MacDonald and Marty McSorley also spoke at the conference about the hockey tournament. Brookline was honoured to be in the presence of these legends and is looking forward to continuing working on this great event.
